3rd International Punjabi Language Olympiad Sees Record-Breaking 2.33 Lakh Registrations: Harjot Bains

CHANDIGARH: The Punjabi language has received a major global boost this year, as the 3rd International Punjabi Language Olympiad, organised by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB), has recorded an unprecedented 2,33,500+ student registrations worldwide, Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains announced.

This year’s participation marks a historic jump compared to previous editions, which saw 24,698 and 6,689 registrations. The massive rise reflects not just interest, but a growing emotional connection among students across the world toward their mother tongue, Punjabi.

According to the minister, students from several countries and states have joined the Olympiad, including:

  • International: Norway, Kenya, UAE
  • National: Maharashtra, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, and many other states.

“Seeing more than 2.25 lakh students connect with their linguistic roots is like a dream coming true. The enthusiasm of students, parents, teachers, and schools reflects our strong outreach to take Punjabi to the world stage,” said Harjot Singh Bains.
