Bad News for MCQ Lovers

For years, students scored easy marks just by ticking the right boxes. Not anymore.

The Board has officially reduced MCQs from 40% to 25%.

Where will the questions come from?

Most students only study the exercises at the end of the chapter. This is a mistake for 2026!

The Board has ordered that questions must come from “within the chapters”.

The Dangerous “33% Rule”

Many students think: “I will get full marks in Practicals, so I only need a few marks in Theory to pass.”

Don’t guess your target. Here are the official numbers you need to hit to be safe:

• For 80 Mark Papers (English, Math, Accounts):
  You need 27 Marks to pass9.
• For 70 Mark Papers (Physics, Chemistry, Biology):
  You need 23 Marks to pass10.
• For 50 Mark Papers (Computer Science):
  You need 17 Marks in Theory to pass11.

Note: For 80 marks, the calculation is 26.4, but to be safe, the Board standard is 27 marks.

No More “Free” Grace Marks

In the past, students often got extra marks just to boost the result percentage.

The update:

The Board is now very strict. “Ad-hoc” (random) grace marks are discouraged13.

• Grace marks are now mostly for borderline cases (like a student stuck at 31 marks).
  
• Do not go into the exam hall hoping for grace marks to save you.
