Structure of the English Question Paper

The Class 12 English paper is divided into three main sections — Reading, Writing & Grammar, and Literature.

Section A: Reading Comprehension (16 Marks)

This part checks your understanding and interpretation skills.

1. Unseen Passage (200–250 words)
   • Includes multiple-choice and short-answer questions.
   • Total: 10 questions × 1 mark = 10 marks
2. Second Unseen Passage (150–200 words)
   • 2 MCQs
   • 2 short comprehension questions
   • 1 fill-in-the-blank
   • 1 match-the-words question
   • Total: 6 marks

Section B: Writing Skills, Grammar & Translation (27 Marks)

This section tests your writing ability, grammar knowledge, and translation skills.

Section C: Literature Textbooks (37 Marks)

Based on “A Rainbow of English – Class XII” and “English Grammar and Composition for XI & XII” by PSEB.

Objective Type (10 Marks)

• 10 one-mark questions from Intensive and Extensive study lessons
  • Intensive: 5 × 1 = 5 marks
  • Extensive: 5 × 1 = 5 marks

Poetry (7 Marks)

• Comprehension questions from stanza: 4 marks
• Central idea of poem (1 out of 2): 3 marks

Short Answer Questions

• From Intensive lessons: 3 out of 5 (20–30 words) → 6 marks
• From Extensive lessons: 2 out of 3 (20–30 words) → 4 marks

Long Answer Questions

• From Intensive study (100–120 words) → 5 marks
• From Extensive study (100–120 words) → 5 marks
